It is important to realize the difference between a diary and a journal. Diaries tend to be a more light-hearted form of writing, listing events from the day. Journals tend to dig deeper and answer the "why" about the event of the day. Journals can record events, but they also show the writer's thinking and philosophy of life. If you're writing entries as you would a diary, you'll soon find writing to be a drudgery and boring. Write your journals introspectively and about life's mysteries, and you'll find out you are more interesting than you thought. Shoot for 200 words.

"Everything I have said and done in these last years is relativism....If relativism signifies contempt for fixed categories and men who claim to be the bearers of an objective, immortal truth...then there is nothing more relativistic than Fascist attitudes and activity.... [T]he modern relativist infers that everybody has the right to create for himself his own ideology and to attempt to enforce it with all the energy of which he is capable."
